Neville Brody Inspired Poster - Graphic Design

New Media Digital Survey II
Fall 2018 | 2 Week Timeline
Project Overview
Design a poster using only text for a lecture series by a well-known designer. The poster should be representative of the designer's personal style and incorporate their contributions to design.

Designer Research
I conducted research on my designer, Neville Brody, and presented my research in a Powerpoint format. The research included analysis on his history, style and contribution to the design community.
Competitive Analysis
Some of Neville Brody's well-known pieces were used as inspiration including his work for the Nike Bounce campaign and the Ocean's 11 and 12 movie posters.
Design Exploration
Hand-drawn sketches were used to explore different layouts and combinations of text and color. The poster requirements included minimal graphics and majority text.
Mood Board
Through mood boards, a design aesthetic was established. The poster incorporates lines and shading while maintaining a consistent color scheme of red, black and white.
Color Exploration
The colors chosen were meant to mimic Neville Brody's previous works. The poster's color inspiration were mainly from Brody's Nike Bounce posters which used bold colors against light and dark backgrounds.
Final Overview
The final poster designs incorporated a combination of Neville Brody's techniques including alignment, hierarchy and unconventional typefaces.
